Rochester Hills has deep roots. Stony Creek Village, with its pre-Civil War Greek Revival homes, and the Van Hoosen Farm date back to the 1820s. Avon Township didn’t become the City of Rochester Hills until 1984, and the decades since brought wave after wave of brick colonials, ranches and custom homes along the Clinton River and Paint Creek valleys. Today the city has historic farmhouses, 1970s subdivisions and newer luxury homes, and all of them benefit from skilled masonry.

Next Level Custom Brick is a family-owned masonry contractor with more than 15 years of experience in Metro Detroit. For Rochester Hills homeowners, we build brick walkways and borders, porches and steps, stone veneer and custom brick features, and we repair and rebuild chimneys and aging brickwork.

Masonry Services for Rochester Hills Homes

Here’s what Rochester Hills homeowners call us for most often:

Brick Walkways, Borders & Custom Brickwork

A brick-bordered walkway, brick steps or a set of entry pillars can transform curb appeal. We also build brick mailboxes, garden walls, planters and outdoor fireplaces matched to your home.

Chimney Repair & Rebuilds

Many of the city’s 1970s and 1980s homes have tall brick chimneys now 40 to 50 years old. We repair crowns and caps, tuckpoint, replace spalled brick and rebuild chimneys above the roofline.

Porch & Step Repair and Rebuilds

We fix front porches and stoops that have settled, cracked or separated from the foundation, and rebuild them on a solid base with brick that matches the house.

Stone Veneer & Cultured Stone

Stone accents on the front elevation, wrapped columns, foundation wainscots and fireplace refacing can update a home without changing its character.

Tuckpointing & Brick Repair

Repointing failing mortar and replacing damaged brick keeps water out and makes walls look sharp again.

Rochester Hills Neighborhoods We Serve

We work in every part of Rochester Hills and the neighboring City of Rochester.

Stony Creek Village & the Van Hoosen Farm Area

The historic district along Washington Road near the Rochester Hills Museum at Van Hoosen Farm includes some of the oldest homes in Oakland County. Older brick and fieldstone need careful, compatible repair, and that’s our approach.

Neighborhoods near the Clinton River & Paint Creek Trails

Homes near Bloomer Park, the Clinton River Trail and the Paint Creek Trail often sit on sloped, wooded lots. Retaining walls, terraced steps and stone walkways are common projects here.

Established Subdivisions off Walton, Avon & Hamlin Roads

The brick colonials and ranches built from the 1970s through the 1990s in central Rochester Hills are now due for chimney work, porch repair and tuckpointing, and they’re great candidates for brick and stone curb-appeal upgrades.

North Rochester Hills & Newer Custom Homes

Newer homes in the north and east ends often combine brick and stone. We match those materials for additions, outdoor living spaces and entry upgrades.

What Rochester Hills Masonry Has to Handle

Rochester Hills sits in river valleys, with plenty of grade changes between the Clinton River, Paint Creek and Stony Creek. Sloped yards send water toward walls, porches and walkways, and Michigan’s freeze-thaw cycles turn that water into heaving and cracking. We set walkways and steps on compacted bases, pitch them away from the house, and give walls drainage so they don’t push over time.

The other common issue is age. Homes built in the 1970s and 1980s have reached the point where original chimney crowns, porch caps and mortar joints are wearing out. Fixing a crown or repointing a chimney now is far less expensive than rebuilding it after years of water damage.

Rochester Hills Masonry FAQs

Can you add a brick border to my existing walkway?

Yes. We can add brick borders or a soldier course to new or existing walkways and steps, matched to your home’s brick. If the walkway is cracked or settled, we’ll recommend replacing it with a brick border at the same time.

How do I know if my chimney crown needs repair?

Look for cracks across the top of the chimney, missing pieces, rust stains, water stains on interior ceilings near the chimney, or brick flaking at the top courses. We’ll inspect it during a free estimate.

Do you work in the City of Rochester as well?

Yes. We serve Rochester Hills, the City of Rochester, Oakland Township and nearby communities.

Can you repair older brick near Stony Creek Village?

Yes. We repair older brick and fieldstone with compatible mortar and materials so the repair respects the home’s age and character.
